UPDATE: I have disabled comments on this post. Stop asking me for wiring diagrams for scooters. I don’t make wiring diagrams, I only have one scooter, I don’t care what kind of scooter you have, and I don’t care what wiring diagram you need (unless it’s the one below for a Ruckus).
This GY6 swap wiring diagram was created by JdotFite on TR. The wire guide features an 11 pole stator and five wire CDI, but it should be helpful during any GY6 swap. Click for full size.

No. I didn’t even make this wiring diagram. I do not ever want to make a wiring diagram, and I can’t help you find the one you’re looking for.
One tip: find out if your vehicle is called something else in other countries. For example, the Ruckus is called the Zoomer in Japan. That means I can search the web for Zoomer and find all sorts of stuff that doesn’t show up when I search for Ruckus. Try that.

This is the most helpful diagram I’ve seen on this topic. I have an 08 Metro and threw a rod, so I ordered a 150 cc long from t-motorsports (lousy company for support) and I fabricated my motor mount and shock extender. I have the motor mounted and wondered if it is possible to take the wires coming from the engine (they go to the stator) and splice them into the existing electronics from honda. Another words, do i need to use the CDI, rectifier, ect that came with the motor. It seem it would be easier to use the Honda wiring and just splice the stator wires with it. Then run a hot wire for the solenoid and connect the yellow and green wires from the solenoid to the starter relay. Anyone know if this sounds possible?

Hi Justin I have a 2012 jonway I was riding it one day I put a new battery replaced my stator fly wheel spark plug and coil wire it cranks over but no spark it’s it doesn’t seam like it’s getting a firing signal to the cdi for spark so I tryed another cdi and still the same any idea please help thank you

Thanx for all your hard work. I ordered my 11 post stator today and hope to get it monday or tuesday. I have a question about the CDI. How does anyone know which pin is which? I need to get spades to push into it, but I haven’t a clue as to which pin is which. I can email you a photo (or send by text) if you can help me with this one.

Could you answer a couple more questions? First, on the CDI pic, could you attach the wire colors from your big drawing (I assume AC ignition is Blue and trigger pulse is black to the relay) .
Also, the engine I ordered came with CDI, 5 wire rectifier, coil, and I think a flasher; do I use the factory (Metropolitan) relay and if so, does it need to be changed at all?
Do I connect the multiple yellows from the stator to the single yellow on the rectifier or do I need a different rectifier?
Lastly, the ignition icon in your large schematic. Is that the keyed switch?
Sorry if I come off ignorant, but I am so afraid of burning something up.

You need a new rectifier Mark. You need one that is for an 11 pole stator, like this one:

When you have that CDI, you can just use the wiring diagram I made. As for the rest of your questions, they have all been covered in detail on totalruckus. If you still have specific questions, let me know.

the ignition in my diagram is the keyed switch. assuming the met flasher is a 2 wire like the ruckus, i think you will need to use the 3 wire gy6 flasher.
You are not coming off ignorant, but you should continue to research this topic on TR. There is a ton of information about this on there.

Ok. I finally came to the realization that all my met wiring had to go. I gutted it, bought, 8 post relay (like in the drawing), new stator and regulator, and used your diagram and I got the engine to fire. Here is my latest dilemma: after wiring everything and the key turned off (or on) the relay clicks and turns on the moment I connect the battery. I checked TR and there are 10 different ways people are wiring. I thought maybe I was looking at the relay from the top instead of the bottom or vise – versa so I re-wired and still the same. Can you offer any help?

Never mind – I figured it out. My red and red/green were switched. Its tough when you extend wires and they’re not the original color. All good now!!! Thanx again for all your help. You drawing is the best!!!!

i have everything put together except the kill switch portion. i have a two wire kill switch that has two button cycle off and cycle on switch. and then i have a 2 post ignition button. should the stator wire and cdi wire go towards the my kill switch somehow and starter solenoid wire go to my push button and then ground it? how would i go about setting this up; my brain hurts?

I too swoped my complete motor. But my previous wires coming from my motor does not correspond with my new one,i now have 3 orange 1 green and 1 blue.,my existing wires are white green yelloy,red and black and blue

Hey hello well I was wondering if you could help me out I got a 1986 Yamaha razz has big bore kit well today well sitting it sarted smoking like crazy well I use the bike like very day need to get it going I started gutting burn wires but id like to just run the motor with the start and kill switch then I can run the lights all light up with a switch that will work cause yes I live in mexico no laws mor light more visual do you think I should put a relay switch to lights or I does need it just the one ,starter relay.if you could help eith some details how to run the voltage regulator, cdi, the starter, kill switch, also im working on another frame the same but putting in a gy6 150cc ill keep

I bought a new 2014 lancer sports 150. headlights would not work. the yellow wire that went to switch did not have a 12 v on it. so i reran a hot wire from key switch got lights working. scooter runs fine everything works but it is not charging. also that yellow wire that I cut loose from the headlight switch also goes into the small black box mounted next to the horn. I believe that is the r/r box. also when I ohm that yellow wire it is grounded. is there anywhere I can get the exact wiring diagram for this scooter or can you help me out.

Hello Mark, i am swapping the engine from my 2013 gilera runner SP which was a 50cc with a 99, 2000 model gilera runner 180cc, (both 2t models). Thing is i changed the whole harness from the 50cc which controlled a digital dashboard to the 180’s which controlled one of those regular dashboards and now i can no longer get the digital dash to works, i looked on the net searching to find both diagrams but i only found the 180’s diagram, so far i got the head and parking lights to work along with the brake lights and the starter, now what i need is to get the heat and gas gauge, the turn signals and the dash to work, can you help me out with this?

I got an older scooter believe it may be a vip no markings
the person that may of had it prior seemed to have to much time on their hands with the little help of blowing clouds . All the wires on the harness have been cut and taped or capped Need some kind of diagram to get it rewired correctly so it can be started with a key not a screw driver arcing the distributor (hotwire) cops kind of frown on this

Hi, so my son decided to cut all the wires leading to everything cuz he thought his 2 stroke gy6 motor would still run. Is there a way to figure out what wire goes to what.
