Maintaining the proper air pressure in your scooter’s tires will optimize acceleration, handling and top speed. If you do not ride your Ruckus for a number of months during winter or while recovering from a broken bone, your scooter’s tires will surely be well below the recommended tire pressure.
Ruckus tire sizes
- Recommended front tire
- 120/90-10 57J tubeless (Factory equipment: Kenda K761)
- Recommended rear tire
- 130/90-10 61J tubeless (Factory equipment: Kenda K761)
- Recommended tire pressure
- 25 psi (175 kPa, 1.75 kgf/cm²)
While you are checking your Ruckus tire pressure, another easy maintenance item is to check the drum brake lever freeplay.

As with anything, sticking to specs is usually a good idea. However, with my own Ruckus, I have discovered the rear tire inflation specs to seemingly be “with a 100lb teenager riding it”. Find a safe spot to look in the refection of a set of windows, or have someone you trust follow you a look at the rear tire. If it is ‘squatting’ a bit further than the front tire, you seriously need more air. I weigh 256 and I have figured out from experimentation, upping the pressure 2 or 3 lbs at a time – my Ruckus needs about 36 psi in the rear to have a satisfactory ‘squat’ to the pavement. With the factory 25 psi, it sat visibly further down than the front. After several hundred miles on the tires, at 36 psi rear and 28 psi front, the wear pattern looks almost the same from front and back. I get 108 mpg, and can do 40 mph on level ground.

I am glad some one else thinks the same as me on tire pressure, have many talks with service people and they say to stick to factory numbers. I now weight 180 but at one time was 240 so had to put more air than was called for to get good performance.

Rideing the rucksus is fun and a great way to get from point A to B, I’m also 5’11 at 230 lbs had to air up rear tire at 32psi.front at. 28 psi this gives the ride better control and comfort ,hope this helps ,ride safe and check tires and fluids!
